A second round of "No Kings" protests are taking place across the country on Saturday in response to what activists and advocacy groups call abuse of power by President Donald Trump.

Organizers of Saturday’s event initially planned to have protesters march after convening at the Capitol, Carter said, but called off those plans earlier this week. The march was canceled in part because organizers weren’t sure they had enough staff to manage the crowd — and that it might be too soon after the June shooting.

Organizers expect millions of Americans to turn out for “No Kings” protests across the country with more than 2,000 demonstrations planned.

On June 14, more than 50 million people across all 50 states joined in one of the largest single-day protests against "President Trump’s authoritarianism," according to Studio City Rising, a local event organizer.

Local political organizations spoke to WSAV ahead of Saturday's "No Kings" protests that have been planned across the nation and right in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
