In Microsoft Excel, spilled array formulas cannot spill into merged cells. Unmerge the cells, or move the formula to another range that does not interconnect with merged cells.

The function is designed to automatically return a list of unique values from a specified range or array. The UNIQUE function has many uses, among them identifying duplicates in Excel.
