Cantin took to his workshop. He had to scrap his first design entirely when a metal tube attaching a servo-motor to a LEGO brick proved too flimsy (it died during initial testing).
The Lego model uses an Arduino to move the rods up and down (using a servo) and controls the simulated Cherenkov radiation (courtesy of blue LEDs).
Avoid stepping on these tiny Arduino-compatible boards. MCookies are pricier than the LEGOs they snap into, and will probably cut your feet just as badly.
It uses two servo motors for testing, each driven by the Arduino which is logging the count on an SD card. One of the two white LEGO parts has been screwed onto an arm of the upper servo.
